Hi! Im Michael Collins, a 21 year old LCpl in the Infantry of the United States Marine Corps. I graduated from USMC Parris Island, on Feb 28, 2014. I have extensive Military heritage in both my Mom & Dad's families and had been inspired by them to also serve in the military, becoming a US Marine. Im a reservist in the Infantry, Company G, 2nd Bn., 25th Marines out of Dover, NJ. I attend my local community college and I work the overnight shift at UPS. Im from Jackson, NJ and I have three brothers, Ryan, Justin, and Robbie (also a Marine) and a golden retriever puppy, Brady. My parents, Mike and Carol, are runners and have contributed to several charities with the runs they have participated in, including Team Marine Parents.

Last year my parents ran the 40th Marine Corp Marathon on bibs they got through the MCM Lottery but they still choose to raise funds for Team Marine Parents. I too was going to run but due to an injury that interrupted my training I transferred to the 10K, with hopes of coming back one day to complete the MCM. Well that day is now just a few short months away and I too am trying to raising money for Team Marine Parents, their outreach program Warrior Support Team, my goal is $500.

I dont have extensive running experience, unless you consider running in combat boots during boot camp as experience. I have supported my Dad on many of his runs and one in particular was when I ran my first half marathon in May of 2013 before shipping out to Parris Island. At the time my Dad was also running his 7th marathon. Not every run always goes as planned, even with preparation and training, and this happened to be the day when my Dad needed my support. After finishing my half I learned that he was behind his normal pace and I went back out to find him on the marathon course. I helped him finish by running the last 5 miles by his side. This is what Marines do... we leave no one behind, and when we run its with a purpose. Like my parents, almost every run they do is for a purpose, I wanted my run to have a meaning too. This year my purpose is to support Team Marine Parents and their outreach programs.

Im honored and humbled to support my brothers and sisters in our military and their families. I couldnt think of a more meaningful or worthy cause than devoting my run to them and giving back and hopefully make a small difference for their immeasurable sacrifice and commitment to the service of our country. Please join me by contributing to Team Marine Parents as 100 % of donations directly benefit our troops and their families through their outreach programs.

Thank you... God Bless Ooh Rah Semper Fi
