I am the proud father of a Marine! My youngest son told me in late 2014 that he had decided to join the Marine Corps and serve his county. I am so very proud of him and the transformation he has made. He graduated from boot camp in June 2015, and that was a very proud day for me. My grandfather was also in the military and served during WWII in the Army Air Corps. He was captured in the Philippines, survived the Bataan Death March, and was a POW for three years.

Before 2013, I would never have considered running or exercising much, for that matter. It was then that I decided to be healthier and started walking in the winter (still not thinking I would ever be a runner). As the weather got worse, I began going to a gym to use a treadmill to keep up the cardio. Walking turned to jogging and jogging lead to running, so when the weather improved, I moved back outside.

In March of 2013, I ran my first 5K and in that same year I also completed a 10K, 15K, and a half marathon (not that I was really prepared for them), for a total of 9 races. I completed 21 events in 2014 and 27 events in 2015, which included four half marathons and two full marathons. 2016 looks to be another busy year. My mom and two sisters will be traveling with me to New Mexico in March to participate in the Bataan Memorial Death March Marathon to honor my grandfather. To honor my son, my mom and I are also adding the Marine Corps Marathon to the agenda this fall, which means a great deal to me. I am looking forward to that trip since it will also be my first time to visit the nations capital.

Thank you for any support you may be able to provide as it is much appreciated!
