Hi! My Name is Tracie Lankford and this is my second year to run the MCM with Team Marine Parents. My youngest son Alex is a Marine who recently became a college graduate with a bachelors degree in accounting. It never crossed my mind that when he left for boot camp June 1, 2015, he would not only become one of the Few and the Proud but he would acquire the skills to handle the unthinkable. On March 4th, 2016 I lost my oldest son Jason and Alex lost his big brother, and we both lost our best friend. I signed up to run the 2016 MCM just before my sons passing. Unfortunately I decided to not run, it was just too much that year. But when you fall, no matter what, you get back up!!! And with the support of my Marine and and my Team Marine Parent family, who are absolutely remarkable, I did just that and completed the 2017 Marine Corps Marathon.

Running became my therapy and it helps me continue my mission to raise awareness for suicide prevention and when I run the MCM this year I will not just be representing Team Marine Parents, my Marine, and the memory of my son, Jason, but I will be running those 26 miles and crossing that finish line for all the people who do not believe their life matters. I will be running to show them their life is worth the fight!!!
