What a strange year this has been. I ran my first MCM marathon in 2018 & it was my first & I thought my last. I had always said I never had any interest in running a marathon. I'd done a few halves 10 years ago & that was enough, but then my son became a Marine & through all the support I found on the Facebook pages, MCM came up & I thought I could do this! The 2018 MCM was great! I had never felt so much running support in my life! What an awesome experience! I couldn't imagine running any other marathon & once was enough, or so I thought! I had run injured, & so 8 months later I had hip surgery to repair a torn labrum. I got back to running as fast as I could. I stayed a part of TMP & stayed active on their FaceBook page. So, this summer when the 10k went virtual, I signed up right away. There was so much talk about the marathon & then the medal came out! That was all it took! I signed up! Then I did something even crazier a few weeks later...I signed up for the 50k! Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I'd ever run that far! I had great support from friends & family during my runs. Some ran, walked, biked or just talked to me on the phone as I ticked off all those miles. I couldn't have done it without them!

I was way under trained having come to the party so late, but I got in an 18 miler before it was taper time. I had never done the run/walk/run method before, but it worked out great for me!! The 10k was a cinch. The marathon went better than I could have ever expected & I beat my 2018 time by 13 minutes! I did the 50k 2 weeks later (it was not enough time to recover)! It was tough to say the least, but my friends & family got me through!

My Marine was there to put my 50k medal on me when I finished. (I had to take it right back off! It was too heavy!!!) I also uttered, "Wow, I hope I won't want to do that again!" (but I'm not saying never!) I am hoping that the marathon has a viral option next year! I can't afford to do it in person, but I would love to do it again. The TMP support is the BEST ever!!!
