Kelly Lynch completes 10K in 02:13
Event: MCM 10K held 10/25/20
Sponsored in Virtual, WA
As 2020 began my goal was to walk/run the Marine Corps 10K. This was a big goal for me. I set this goal after walking my first ever 5K, with no training. It took me almost 2 hours to complete. But I decided if my son can do hard things as a Marine. I can do hard things as well. So I started walking almost every day. Along the way someone told me “Time doesn’t matter, it’s the miles that matter. Time will come.” I held on to that advice and signed up for a few more 5Ks. And I kept walking. This year I completed a Military Appreciation 5K, PTSD Awareness 5K, Semper Gumby 5K, Gold Star Honor 5K, Marine Corps B-Day 5K, SemperFive 5K, Frozen Chosin 7 miler, and Turkey Trot 10K. The race I am most proud of completing: the MCM 10K. With 2020 coming to an end, I set myself another big goal for 2021. I plan on completing the Historic Half. So far—for 2021—I have signed up for the Desert Storm 218 miler, the 17.75K, and the Historic Half. I know I will be adding more along the way. All while remembering it doesn’t matter how slow you go, as long as you don’t stop.
