My son is a Marine and my daughter's husband is a Maine reservist for the past 15 years and counting. Both have had some symptoms of PTSD. My daughter Stephanie and her 2 yr old son did this walk with me along with our sweet Shih tzu! Today is a special day to do this walk in honor of my Marine son who just arrived home from deployment!

My best friend Wes & I did our Run at Highline Canal Trail in Littleton, Colorado.
I got yanked a couple of times as I had his leash wrapped around my waist (he tried to chase a bunny :)
Overall, it was a Great Run & Great Weather to Commemorate this Event.

Running for PTSD with my best friend, Gypsy was a great experience. This was the longest run for my Gypsy and she did amazing! Over the entire event Gypsy and I walked an addition 13.89 miles. I also ran 24.10 miles, many of those miles with Gypsy! A great virtual this month brining awareness to PTSD

I walked the PTSD Awareness 5k to bring awareness to our military and the struggles they went through and try to survive.

My son has been in for 2 years. I realized at his graduation , how important it is to have family there to support our new Marines. And the expenses involved for the families make the trip hard to impossible for many. This lead me to my first Marine Corp marathon is support of Marine Parents.
This was an injury recovery run. My slowest 10k ever. It gave me time to reflect on how our hard our service members with PTSD must fight to get back to a new 'normal' .

My friend and I are partners in crime lol our sons played football together for some years and that's how we became friends, we have always supported each other in life challenges, From breast cancer to jobs, we started walking during COVID-19 to get out of the house and socialize , at the same time I have friends that were getting depressed so I wanted to show them that getting out and moving can help mentally , PTSD is real my husband is a Marine Veteran and I have seen it, I have a son serving the USMC in Japan and I want him to know that it can be managed and it can happen to anyone , Zana and I love to do for others from working food banks together to doing breast cancer walks, we wanted to join the efforts To bring awareness to PTSD

Three generations walking for awareness. We shared awareness as we walked. Teresa(Gigi) walking for my son who is a Marine. We chose today to walk together because it is a very special day! We are celebrating that he just arrived back safely to his base in the USA from his deployment in Japan! My daughter Stephanie, who's husband is a Marine reservist for 15 years and counting! And her son Henry, 21/2yrs old walking for his daddy and uncle!

My daughter and I walked in the hot TX sun in a neighborhood park sporting our TMP PTSD Awareness Run shirts. Saw lots of people reading the shirts so felt like we brought some much needed attention to this!

Even though I started at 7:30 pm it was still almost 100 deg outside! I was thinking of my son who is training in full gear in 105 degree weather so I wasn't going to complain!

We were asked to run with a partner as a show of solidarity to those suffering from PTSD. My original intent was to run with my trusty 4-legged running partner, but instead my Marine Reservist said he wanted to be my running partner for the race!!!! Of course I was thrilled!!
It was a super stormy day so we waited until there was a break in the weather but by then it was super muggy Texas day! My goal was to run under an 8-minute mile pace, which we did the first mile!! However my race bib disentegrated from the humidity and so did we!!! We drastically slowed done to get it done!!!!
After we ran, we trimmed all the low lying branches hanging over the running path at our loop.

I am a poolee mom, Nurse Practitioner, and former VA nurse. I don't know what the future holds for my "hopefully" future Marine, but I know PTSD is a serious and real consequence for military personnel. I was excited to show my support for PTSD Awareness! I love running, biking, and hiking, so this was a perfect outlet to show my support!

We are a Marine family, my husband served, and my son is active duty. My son has come face to face with what PTSD can lead to and it has effected him. He was so touched when he heard I signed up to do the virtual 10k. This cause has become one of our family's desires to help.

I virtually walked with two other Moms, Sherri and Lynda. We volunteer on the Reserves Fleet page together and have become friends through the page.

Miss Penny and I completed our 10k in honor of my Marines as well as family members who served in other branches. Miss Penny did all the hard work and celebrated with extra oats and a carrot or five.

My friend Teresa and I did this 5k together because we both have family that are serving or have served. My husband is a Retired Army Veteran, and our son is currently serving in the US Marines. Teresa's mother and father both served Air Force and her sister is currently serving Air Force. So this cause is important to both of us.

I ran the PTSD Awareness Run virtually with two wonderful friends who I met through MarineParents. It was nice cheering each other on and chatting via FaceTime along the 5K. Thank you MarineParents for an engaging and meaningful virtual run to bring awareness to PTSD and demonstrate the importance of having a "buddy" to get you through. Just like I did today during the run.
