My best friend from High School was my buddy for my walk! I live in Virginia and she is in Chicago, and we haven't seen each other in a very long time. So, it was wonderful to catch up and share a morning walk together. We won't wait until next July to do it again :)

I did this event for my Papa. He was in the British SAS and has had issues with PTSD my Mom's whole life. This run is for all the people who have PTSD and to make other people more aware so we can be more understanding.

My Dad was my inspiration for this run. Having served several tours in conflict areas including Northern Ireland and Darfur in the 60's and 70's he has struggled with PTSD for most of my life. It's only in recent years that he has acknowledged the mental battle he has been waging for decades. This run honors him and all of those who struggle with PTSD and the invisible wounds.

Took my walking buddies with me and completed the 5K walk in my hometown of Carrollton, TX. I took a picture while we were walking, but I didn’t realize how blurry it was until the even was over. I took another after we got home.

I'm the VERY proud mom of Sgt. Ryker Johnson! I walked in honor of my cousin Richard, who suffered greatly from PTSD after serving as a rescue helicopter pilot in Vietnam. Not only was I accompanied by my regular walking buddy, Kirby, but also my son, Taylor and his pup, George!

This was a tough one! The pup hadn’t run with me in over 2 weeks & I had to wait for some strong storms to pass, so it wasn’t as cool as I would have liked. We got it done though, well, my pup sat out the last 3/10, she was spent & I had dragged her along for too long! I’m coming off 2 weeks of traveling & the first week was unable to do any running. My pace was not what I would have liked, but I’m happy that I completed it!

Inspired by our Marine Recruit as he goes through Boot Camp. I'm Participating in the PTSD Awareness Virtual Buddy Run with my Cousin Scotchie as my Buddy. This Virtual Run is my starting point to find my strength within to continue taking charge of my well-being. Being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis I have had my ups and downs but I am determined to keep moving (even if it's in the Turtle Pool). 2 Miles is not much, but for me, it's A Lot and We Did It!

My son leaves for boot camp tomorrow. I was planning on loosing weight this summer but I have even more motivation now. In solidarity to my son and the other recruits, I will work hard this summer to accomplish my weight loss and health goals. In addition, I love that I can support our service members by participating in these virtual events.
