Proud MoM here. I walked with my sister-in-law, in honor of all veteran patients, and the many veterans in our family. It was cold and raining during our walk, following a havoc-wreaking ice storm two days before.

Our Marine overcame some very difficult life challenges. When he went to boot our family started walking for him each day. I have RA and some days are better than others, but I have learned to keep moving and not to concern myself with how long it takes to meet my distance goal.

I have a long family history of military service, including many great uncles, my grandfather, multiple uncles, and cousins. Serving from WWII to Iraq and Afghanistan. My great uncle received a Purple Heart after being injured at Iwo Jima and retired as an employee at our local VA. His brother, who also served in the Pacific Theater, passed peacefully at that same VA, where I was employed as a social worker at the time. Veteran Patients will always have a very special place in my heart!!! I'm active duty now and my husband is a retired Marine. Now my son is at Bootcamp to earn the title of United States Marine!

Bike: 5k in 16.07

2/21/2021
That was 16mins with 07seconds. This was my second bike ride which I did at the gym. During the Valentine weekend with rain and the temperature drop plus the snow that came after. Just crazy weather. Admire those runners who actually ran in certain parts of this nation. My heroes are my two Marines and my family that support me when I tell them I am going to ride my bike. I don't know how to describe this event but I know there are veterans who need our attention and doing this is a great inspiration. I am proud to be a part of it. I hope that my donation to each run will help in any way towards our military resources.

Run for our son Jacob Rhodes stationed at Camp Pendleton. 2nd-year marine. Ran in 34 degrees and for Southeast Texas, that's cold. If our marines live/work in the elements then we should challenge ourselves to do the same. Love to ALL who serve our country! #BeUncommon. El Padre

I can't believe I just did 10 miles and I'm smiling ear-to-ear. I haven't gone this far or this long on my elliptical in over 2 years and it feels great! I kept thinking "that's all I can do" and almost giving up, then kept thinking that if our military heroes and veterans can do what they do, I can do 10 more minutes, I can do another 1/4 mile, and I CAN do this. And I did it and it feels great. If I can do this, you can do this!!

I'm incredibly proud and I've got MarineParents.com to thank for bringing me, kicking and screaming, to the monthly virtual events for my own personal challenge. Five miles for the Hero Run in January, 10 miles for Veteran patients in February, and shooting for more in March with the Rosie run! I'll be ready for Dale Larson's half-marathon challenge in July. We miss you Dale, but I know you're with me! I needed this!! Ooh Rah Marine Corps Family!!

And way to go, Daniel, see his story just below mine. Way to be inspired by your recruit daughter!

Running to support my Recruit, my son! So very proud of him! He tried a semester of college and decided it wasn't for him. Instead, he felt he couldn't stand by and simply enjoy our freedoms, he wanted to contribute and serve his country. We fully support him and the Virtual Run was a way I could feel like I was participating and also support Veteran Patients. We must take care of our heros! Just a little chilly today, 14 degrees!

An Arctic blast is on its way to Texas so I got ahead of it by opting to run in a nice 25 degrees instead of -2 forecasted for this weekend. I feel proud to honor our Veteran Patients with each mile as they are tough and running in the cold would not phase them at all. Thank you MarineParents!
