In 2020 I did a 5k Race on the Base in Los Alamitos, California, and met a family that had lost their older brother. I keep that medal on the mirror in my car to honor PFC Ruben Velasco and his Family, and I keep them and all the Gold Star Families in my Heart ❤ Forever!

My inspiration is my marine recruit and to stay fit. When I hit the hills and my legs were burning I thought of him in training. That thought kept me going. I forgot to take a picture of my ride.

I want to thank each of you who ran in memory of my son, Reagan. You have no idea how much this means to me.

I did my mile-it was all the energy I had to do. I ran, walked, cried, screamed, and cried some more, but I finished. Reagan's dog, Buddy, met me at the end. I guess he knew I needed him.

Thank you to everyone and especially the TMP Members for supporting me from afar. ❤️🤍💙

It took two days to walk at a good pace for me because it has been a while since I have even tried to walk such a distance. I find inspiration in my children, specifically my boys, who get up every morning to exercise, be with their families, and go to work to protect their communities. I am proud of both of them.

Walking this 5k for the Gold Star Reagan Wilson family was an honor. It did take me 2 days to complete but that's ok. I had 2 of grandsons with me the first day and my granddog. Being able to walk them and listen to their stories was the best.

I love riding bikes any day but to ride for a reason makes it more enjoyable. I rode with Becky Wilson and her son Reagan in mind all 12 miles!

I walked together with couple of my MoM friends. We know in order “To honor the fallen, we must honor the living.”. And the least we can do is to dedicate our walk to our Gold Star Families.

I ran the Gold Star Honor run for all of our families who have lost a loved one; however, Becky & Reagan had my heart the entire time. I reflected on how her life was changed forever in a blink of an eye. No one should have to experience the loss of a child. She is my hero as I watch her move through this unimaginable pain with grace. So thankful for the opportunity provided by MarineParents to honor her. Rest in Peace, Marine.

I ran this one alone, with my husband on his bike behind for support. This run was hard for me emotionally. I reflected on a friend from school who lost her father while serving; that weighed heavy on my heart. I did every mile with raging shin splints. I found my courage channeling what my recruit is going through right now, and I told myself carry on, you can, you will, you are; just as I would encourage him. My accomplishment wasn’t in the number of miles I ran but rather in the heart I invested in them.

This activity was a little different for me, knowing that a fellow TMP MoM had recently lost her precious son…. It just felt like walking wasn’t nearly enough. But, I walked, and I thought, and I prayed. I simply hope that Gold Star Families feel that their loved ones will always be remembered! #ForBeckyAndReagan

I started running when my son shipped off to boot camp last year and haven’t stopped since. This is my second time running for Gold Star Families and this time I was joined (virtually) by my new MoM friend, Carolyn! What a gift this journey is! As I run I reflect/pray for the families of the fallen and pray for protection for those who are currently serving, including my Marine. I finished my 5k in our town’s memorial park for our local military men and women who have served and paid the ultimate sacrifice.

For this walk, I met up with a friend from dialysis. Walking with a fellow kidney dialysis friend who is also an Army veteran and Marine Dad meant a lot to me! We talked about our Marines as we walked to honor all who have sacrificed so much. We will never forget our fallen heroes! We walked for Becky, her dear Marine son Reagan, and all the other Gold Star family members.

I intended to run 20 miles in preparation for my first marathon in 2 weeks. This run was rough, but I thought about why I signed up for this run - because others have lost loved ones. I'm here and can still run, so I am happy with how far I went.

We did a two-mile walk. My husband and I have a son in boot camp. His birth father passed away two years ago, and we are so proud of my son and what he is doing with his life and super proud he chose to become a Marine. But also very scared at the same time, as any mother would be. He is my hero and an amazing kid. We had so much fun doing this walk, and we are glad we could support him somehow!

I was supposed to do 18 miles today & that is what I signed up for, but because of a hip issue, I cut it short at 10 miles.

Every mile I accomplished is dedicated to these Gold Star Families & especially to Becky in the recent loss of her Marine. My heart goes out to all of you!!

Zane is currently in recruit training. We're proud of the zeal he has shown in becoming a Marine. He has embraced the team. Zane has a sister, a brother, Mom and Dad in Kansas. But there are family members across the nation cheering his success.
