My son continues to be my inspiration when I think about all he is accomplishing on his journey to become a Marine! I am so very proud! I also entered this PTSD Awareness virtual run in honor of my friend's son, who went to Afghanistan, my virtual buddy Heather ran this race with me, and my husband is my forever buddy.

I participated in the PTSD Awareness Run as I walked I reflected on the warriors & families who suffer along with them. It is my hope that sharing this I can bring awareness to PTSD and that not all wounds are visible.

I walked at sunrise and as I walked I prayed for those struggling with PTSD. My hope is they will see the dawn of a new day and continue on moving into each new day, never giving up the hope that the valley they are going through can become the peak and they can make it through.

Walked in honor of all those in military who put their mental and physical health on the line for our freedoms. I also walked out of inspiration and sense of pride because my son is currently a Marine recruit in boot camp!

My son graduates 30 June from ITB and moves on to his MOS school next. As an infantryman, I pray he nor any others ever have to face the trauma of war. My husband is a retired Marine. I worked in the OEF/OIF and homeless programs and facilitated the former POW group at the VA. I am now a Mental Health provider in the USAF and direct a reintegration program for those returning from deployments. We see members from all branches. PTSD is real and we need to break the silence to allow for healing. I run for anyone fighting the demons from trauma.

It was a humid morning in Indianapolis but nothing compared to what the service men and women have endured for our country. May those that struggle find the help they need.

Haying: 582 Bales in 01:30:00

6/27/2021
At our friends’ beautiful Veteran-Owned family farm, we brought in 582 bales of hay on a 90 degree day in 1.5 hours. Haying requires exceptional teamwork by all throughout the entire process of cutting, baling, loading, unloading, stacking, and sweeping – it’s very hard work but is still really fun and provides everyone with such a sense of accomplishment once completed. Working together and supporting each other is key. God Bless our Marines and all troops who work together each day to serve and protect our Great Country and may God continue to protect and watch over them forever.

What a great cause. I was so happy to run for this purpose. I did end up running it alone, but not really because I know that my TeamMarineParents family was running with me! I do run with my pup sometimes, but she wasn't able to join me this time around. Next time!

My husband and I walked a special country road where the buddies that joined us besides our dog were a raccoon, a hawk, some buzzards, a variety of bugs and a deer. Our marine son has walked and trained there many times as a recruit and there are marines that live along the road. Letting them all know they are not alone is important to me as a mom, a neighbor, and an American. It was supposed to rain all day but it was a most excellent morning for such an event.
